iQIYI, a major video-streaming platform in China, signed a strategic partnership letter of intent with the Tourism Authority of Thailand in Beijing on Oct 19, aiming to collaborate in the production of Thai language content, conduct exchanges between Chinese and Thai talents, and explore opportunities for filming Chinese language productions in Thailand.

Srettha Thavisin, prime minister of Thailand, Thapanee Kiatphaibool, governor of Tourism Authority of Thailand, and Yang Xianghua, president of movies and overseas business group of iQIYI, as well as representatives from seven Chinese leading businesses such as Ant Group, Ctrip, and Huawei, attended the event.

Yang Xianghua said at the event that, TV and films serve as a gateway for tourists to experience different cultures. Ten years ago, due to the screening of Chinese comedy Lost in Thailand, Chinese tourists' interest in Thailand reached to peak.

Now iQIYI has established a local office in Thailand, aiming to further enhance cultural exchanges between China and Thailand through the creation of high-quality content.

According to Yang, iQIYI will launch the production of two original Thai-language content by the end of 2023 and plans to make 5 to 10 original Thai productions in 2024.
